Experienced Special Educator

Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning is a small charter school in Perry, Utah that serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade. We are seeking an Experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team immediately or for the 2024-2025 school year. At Promontory we teach students to be engaged in their own learning processes and to be leaders of their own learning.

Job responsibilities would include:

Being responsible for the education of students with disabilities (mild, moderate, and/or severe)

Implementing best practices in instruction, positive behavior supports, and classroom management

Writing and conducting IEP meetings

Ensuring compliance with student IEPs
-
Collecting and documenting progress monitoring data
-
Maintaining special education student files
-
Training and supervising the work of special education paraeducators
-
Collaborating with general education teams and RTI team
We follow the Box Elder School District pay scale to determine pay.

Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning seeks talented, dynamic, and fun educators for an elementary education teaching position in Perry, Utah. We are an Expeditionary Learning school that focuses on three parts of every child’s education: mastery of knowledge and skills, strength of character, and high quality work. A Utah elementary teaching license qualifies you to apply for this position.

Teachers can also expect to spend much more time outside the classroom, in the field, and working with students. Fieldwork is essential to the practice of Expeditionary Learning. Teachers will be able to attend Expeditionary Learning training sessions. Job Qualifications:
All teachers hired by Promontory shall have completed a bachelor’s degree at an approved higher education institution and hold an appropriate license with areas of concentration and endorsements as approved by the Utah State Office of Education. (See R277-510, R277-520, and R277-524). All teachers hired by Promontory shall have an appropriate criminal background check before employment at the school per statute 53A-3-410.
Experience with early childhood education, phonics instruction, Conscious Discipline, Utah State Standards of Education, Critical Thinking Instruction, active classroom management, and application of learning to real world circumstances are all advantageous.
Salary depends on experience and will be similar to Box Elder School District.
